ABOUT US

Turning Passion Into Action

Casa Esperanza, a women and children's shelter for survivors of domestic violence, was established in 2001 by two missionaries — Teresa McFetridge and Adriana Robles. While missionaries still serve at the shelter, the two club chapters are not religiously-affiliated and welcome all individuals who desire to support the Casa Esperanza community.

In 2016, the first Casa Esperanza Club emerged out of a discussion between a high school teacher and a few students about the small shelter in Mexico. Since then, we have been fervently supporting Casa Esperanza. At the Great Oak High School Chapter, members host holiday surprises, tri-annual trips to the shelter, fundraisers, and donation drives for Casa's necessities.

In a pursuit to amplify support for Casa Esperanza, the UC Berkeley Chapter was established in 2020. This chapter develops and implements health, wellness, and social empowerment programming. Additionally, out of a desire to create sustainable change, the UC Berkeley Chapter provides educational support through financial scholarships and personal mentorship to support the youth in pursuing higher education.

Since 2016, we have been driven by empathy, bold ideas, and a strong foundation of support.
